For any process to be successful, it requires fulfilling a purpose

The fitness and lifestyle principles previously laid out are timeless and never changing. They are natural systems that can’t be cheated. You must train to cause purposeful stress, you must manage your lifestyle to recover sufficiently and you must be consistent with both, long enough to achieve your desired change. These are the principles that all fitness regimes must adhere to achieve any fitness results. But fitness results, just like all results, are meaningless without context.

Results are the outcome or consequence of following an effective process. Results are objective.

Fitness results are the natural consequence of following the process of train | recover | adapt | repeat. There are an infinite number of ways to manipulate this process into a model of fitness that can bring about any desired fitness results. The purpose of these fitness results are the difference between achieving results and achieving success.

Success is the accomplishment of a desired aim or purpose. Success is subjective.

It is important to remember the difference, as one persons success can look very different from others. Similarly, achieving greater levels of results does not automatically correlate into greater success. Understanding the difference helps to define your own success and what results help contribute towards it. Context, context, context…

True fitness success comes from the fulfilment of its highest purpose in life for YOU

For a fitness regime to be truly successful, it requires fulfilling a higher purpose. Most would probably assume a fitness regime’s purpose is achieving a fitness goal such as losing weight, getting fitter, or changing how they look, which it is, but also so much more than that. When thinking of achieving fitness goals, it isn’t just the actual results we desire but what those results will potentially have on our self and/or our life. This is why it is so important to understand fitness results within the big picture of life, not just in terms of fitness. This is what I believe the main focus of non-professional fitness should be and why it is so important to keep one eye on fitness and the other on the big picture.

Ahead, I go through what I believe to be the three higher purposes of all fitness regimes, a definition of success for each and how the fitness process differs to align with each.
