ABOUT ME

I’m a personal trainer specialising in movement, strength training and lifestyle coaching.

I have nearly 10 years of personal training experience in both a gym and studio environment. Throughout my time working with numerous clients from all walks of life, I have learnt the importance of a flexible training regime. My clients all lead busy, full lives, so I need to be able to adapt their training on the go focusing on long-term progress rather than short-term perfection. I do this by maintaining balance of their immediate physical and mental needs with their longer term fitness goals. I believe using fitness training to get someone feeling better, is of greater value to non-professional fitness clients than ticking a non-essential fitness goal.

But fitness goals are not just achieved through training, they require sufficient recovery too and that magic happens outside of training. This is why I also work with clients to help them improve their recovery outside of training sessions by working on improving key areas of their lifestyle. Small but consistent progress in both fitness and lifestyle can help improve the quality of any life.

This is why it is always my priority to make clients enjoy their process and above all else, always get them walking away from training feeling better than when they walked in.

my journey

My fitness journey began by chance when I was thankfully introduced to rugby at 6 years old. I still remember the morning my Dad and I bumped into a couple of school friends on their way to play rugby at Rosslyn Park where I decided to give it a try. That decision to go with them on that random Sunday morning changed the course of my life because, once I found this enjoyable entrance into physical activity, it became a part of me, my life and my future career.

I have always enjoyed physical activity throughout my life since I started playing rugby and have enjoyed many variations of it since but my favourite began at University when I discovered weight training. I enjoyed everything about it, the physical results, the social aspect of training with friends, the almost meditative effects of focusing on controlling movement, the improved performance at the sport I loved and most importantly, my increased food allowance.

But when I stopped playing rugby, my undying motivation to train hard stopped with it. I no longer valued my fitness results as highly as I did and I began experiencing all of the same psychological struggles as my clients. I was done with die hard motivation, numerous hours of training and consistently worrying about when my next meal was. I needed to re-define my perception of fitness success that was better aligned with my long-term health and happiness at its core. I needed to build a model of fitness which I could easily work into my life which focused on the long term maintenance of these success models.

I have spent most of my time since then researching and refining a simple but effective model of long-term fitness success for health and happiness requiring minimal effort.

MY COACHING METHOD

The Core Fundamentals

There are three pillars to my coaching, and what I like to call the ‘Core Fundamentals’. If you want to see exactly how I help my clients, have a look at the below as I take you through the DC Coaching method that can transform your training and your life.

FITNESS

Purposeful and Progressive Training

Fitness training simply combines purposeful movement and progressive stress to bring about desired change over time. Training is just one pillar in the whole fitness cycle.

LIFESTYLE

Complementary Recovery Strategies

Our daily lifestyle directly impacts our body’s ability to recover, repair and adapt to training as well as maintain healthy function in life. Recovery pays for improvements in both.

Success

Achieving Results That Really Matter

For any process to be successful it requires fulfilling a purpose. Achieving fitness results is great, but achieving results that actually improve your life is where the real magic lies.
